How can I obtain the Ehrenamtskarte? This has become easier since 2023:

Anyone who has been volunteering for at least five hours a week for at least two (previously: three) years without receiving compensation for their expenses (which goes beyond reimbursement of costs).

Exceptions have so far been made for holders of the Youth Leader Card (Juleica) and members of volunteer fire departments, rescue services and the Federal Agency for Technical Relief: They can receive the Ehrenamtskarte after just one year of commitment or upon completion of basic training.

Holders of the Ehrenamtskarte are also pleased with the commitment of the city of Salzgitter, non-profit associations and many companies that offer many discounts for volunteers: there are currently 51 different offers - more are in the coordination phase. There are also around 1,200 discounts throughout Lower Saxony and Bremen.
