The basic decision to renovate the Thermalsolbad was adopted by a majority, taking into account an amendment proposed by the SPD parliamentary group, which also received a majority.

The current plans for "refurbishment of existing facilities and making them more attractive" have a financial volume of 24 million euros. The Thermalsolbad with its wide range of offers appeals to many users, this basic orientation should be maintained and, in addition, it is important to make it even more attractive, but also to eliminate known weak points such as the current access to the bistro.

Other resolutions passed (excerpt):

• unanimously the new version of the statutes for the Municipal Volkshochschule (VHS),
• unanimously to support the youth workshop at the SOS Mothers' Center and
• by a majority vote, the updating of the wastewater disposal concept.

The Council was informed about the purchase program in the Salzgitter-Watenstedt district and the choice of materials and colours for the construction of new elementary school and day nurseries in Salzgitter-Bad and Lichtenberg, which are being funded by the structural aid program of the state of Lower Saxony.
