Salzgitter

Council meeting on May 22

At its meeting on May 22, the Salzgitter City Council approved the complete renovation of the auditorium at Salzgitter-Bad Grammar School.

The definition of the Swindonstrasse redevelopment area and the overall urban development measures for Kampstrasse and Am Schölkegraben were also approved.

The agenda also included a resolution on the 2024 Europawahl entitled "Shaping the future of the European Union". According to the resolution, the election of the European Parliament is of great importance for democracy. The European Parliament is the directly elected representative body.

Around 70 percent of the legislation that affects people in Germany and therefore also in the local towns, municipalities and joint municipalities now comes from the EU Parliament or the EU Commission. The City Council and Mayor of Salzgitter are therefore calling on all eligible voters in Salzgitter to use their right to vote on June 9, 2024 to support a democratic party and take the future of the European Union into their own hands. Germans and EU nationals aged 16 and over are eligible to vote on June 9.

Later in the meeting, the committee also asked the administration to optimize the content and name of the Bona SZ career orientation fair in collaboration with the Economic and Innovation Promotion Department.

The meeting concluded with motions and questions from the parliamentary groups. The current and detailed agenda can be viewed in the council information system.
