Before setting off pyrotechnic articles, however, it must be ensured that public safety is not endangered. Firing is prohibited in the immediate vicinity of churches, hospitals, children's and old people's homes and particularly fire-sensitive buildings or facilities. Immediate proximity is defined as 200m for rockets and comparable fireworks with their own propulsion as well as the throwing distance for thrown fireworks.
The city appeals to the population to keep an eye on the risk of accidents despite the festive mood, so that all those celebrating can start the New Year in a happy and carefree manner. Disposal of firework remains (firecrackers, rockets) on footpaths and streets:
The SRB appeals to citizens to collect the remains of ignited fireworks, firecrackers and rockets. The burnt and cooled fireworks should be disposed of in the residual waste garbage can. The sales packaging, for example the plastic bags from rocket sets or foil packaging, should be disposed of in the yellow recycling bag. However, champagne or wine bottles, which are usually used as launchers, should not be forgotten during cleaning and should be disposed of in the glass recycling bin.
In this context, the SRB would also like to point out that property owners are responsible for cleaning the adjacent footpaths. Only the streets connected to the street cleaning system as well as pedestrian areas and public squares are cleaned by the SRB as part of the regular street cleaning service.
