Last Thursday, March 14, Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel and club board member Michael Kotzian signed the contract extension. The new agreement is valid until at least March 2029.
"I have the greatest respect for the outstanding commitment with which the Waldschwimmbad is run and how everyone involved has withstood the crises of recent years," said Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel, "All outdoor pool operators have experience with weather-related downtimes, but the pandemic and the extreme rise in energy costs due to the fragile global situation have posed and continue to pose a particular challenge."
Klingebiel had proposed to the city council not only the extension of the lease agreement, but also an increase in the operating subsidy to cover the increased costs and the loss of volunteer support staff. The council unanimously approved this proposal at the February meeting.
Club board member Michael Kotzian also had words of praise for all his fellow volunteers: "SV Glück Auf now has 1,500 members - it would be unthinkable to run this 'company' without being able to count on those who are tirelessly willing to do something for others and take on responsibility in a voluntary capacity."
Bernd Grabb, Armin Block and Michael Kotzian also used the meeting to draw attention to the upcoming anniversary: The Waldschwimmbad will be 60 years old- and that will be celebrated on May 25! "Don't beat Bubu" has already agreed to perform and more details will follow. Tickets are available from the SV Glück Auf office.
