Today, Monday, February 5, the contract was signed at Fire Station 1 of the professional fire department, which is valid from July 1, 2024 until the end of 2030. Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel, the First City Councillor and Head of the Fire Department Eric Neiseke, Nicole Kumpis (Board Member of DRK Braunschweig-Salzgitter e.V.) and Dirk Gähle (Regional Board Member of Johanniter Harz-Heide) were present.
At the signing ceremony, Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel emphasized: "What has proven itself stays together. We are pleased and grateful that the good work of the DRK and Johanniter in Salzgitter will continue as part of the rescue service and crane transportation. In view of the shortage of general practitioners, rescue services, ambulance services and emergency rooms are under increasing pressure. That is why it is good news for the people in our city to know that they are in competent hands. My thanks go to all the emergency services for their great work so far."
Nicole Kumpis from the DRK added: "We are also pleased to be able to continue to be a partner to the city. Let's tackle the challenges together."
Dirk Gähle was also delighted on behalf of the Johanniter: "We Johanniter see Salzgitter as an important location and are proud that we can continue to provide patient transport services here."
Almost 30,000 ambulance transports and rescue service operations were carried out in Salzgitter last year. Both aid organizations have been reliable partners of the city for many years in rescue services, extended rescue services and disaster control. The rescue stations of both aid organizations will continue to be used. The DRK is located in Gebhardshagen and the Johanniter Unfallhilfe is based in Salzgitter-Bad. The rescue service personnel have been working together for years and can respond to special incidents at short notice.
