Salzgitter

VHS courses: Digitization in old age

Digitalization is on everyone's lips. The Volkshochschule (VHS) in the city of Salzgitter offers interested people aged 55 and over courses to introduce them to new technologies.

If you want to stay in touch with your grandchildren today, you usually have to rely on an iPhone or smartphone, as they often no longer live in the same area as you do for work reasons. The cell phone offers various ways to stay in touch with family and friends and to be active. In the VHS courses, participants learn how to use the new technology in small groups tailored to the target group.

With the courses "Decision-making aids when buying a smartphone" and "Setting up my new smartphone (iPhone) after purchase", there are two introductory courses on offer, which are available with various date options in the program.

The courses offered

Two courses "Decision-making aids when buying a smartphone" (first course starts on September 11 and second course on October 24):

Here, participants learn what to look out for when buying a smartphone and how to find a cheap tariff - even without commitment periods. There is room for questions. The course is aimed in particular at people who want to buy a smartphone in the near future.

Course "Setting up my new smartphone (Android) after purchase" (starts October 30)

In this course, participants learn how to set up a new smartphone. Together we will set up the smartphone step by step.

With other topics such as "How modern cell phone communication works" or "Information and no fake news", the city's Volkshochschule is exploring the opportunities and risks of new communication channels.

PC and Internet courses

Basic and advanced courses for getting started with PCs or using the Internet are still on the VHS program.
A particular advantage of the VHS courses in the field of IT and digital media is that the small group sizes mean that the lecturers can respond to individual questions.

Help in the "PC Club

The Volkshochschule also offers regular support with using your own PC in its "PC Club". Here, participants can describe their PC problems, which are then discussed together and solved under expert guidance.
