The city of Salzgitter is divided into 100 polling districts. The election notifications sent to eligible voters in the period from April 29 to May 19, 2024 at the latest specify the electoral district and the polling station in which eligible voters have to vote.

Each person entitled to vote may only vote in the polling station of the electoral district in whose electoral roll they are entered. Voters must bring their polling card and an official identity card - EU citizens a valid identity card - or passport to the election.

Anyone wishing to vote by postal ballot must obtain an official ballot paper, an official ballot paper envelope and an official ballot letter envelope from the postal voting office of the City of Salzgitter and send their ballot letter with the ballot paper (in the sealed ballot paper envelope) and the signed ballot paper to the office indicated on the ballot letter envelope in good time so that it arrives there by 6 p.m. on the election day at the latest. The ballot letter can also be handed in at the place indicated on the envelope. It is not possible to hand it in at a polling station.
