The table football and table tennis tournament between pupils from general schools and vocational schools was organized by the school social workers of the respective schools and the "Jugend im Gemeinwesen" (JIG) team, the mobile youth work team of the city of Salzgitter.
The tournaments were held in parallel so that many pupils could take part and have the opportunity to put their skills to the test. Not only was sporting ambition encouraged, but the young people also got to know each other better, met as equals and forged new friendships across schools.
There were many exciting games to watch. The pupils performed impressively. In table tennis, the pupils from Gymnasium am Fredenberg clearly came out on top and took 1st to 3rd place. In the table football tournament, the Gymnasium took 1st and 3rd place, while Gottfried-Linke-Realschule secured 2nd place. The atmosphere in the sports hall was characterized by fairness and a good mood.
"It was great to see how much fun the joint event was for the pupils. The jointly organized event not only promoted sporting skills, but also strengthened the exchange between the pupils, the school social work of the various school types and the mobile youth work," emphasizes André Blase, team leader of the mobile youth work of the city of Salzgitter.
This positive response from the pupils is certainly a motivation for the organization team to ensure that this tournament can take place again next year. There is already great anticipation for the jointly organized soccer tournament planned for the summer....

The starting point for the joint events is to improve networking between the mobile youth work of the city of Salzgitter and the school social work of the BBS, the grammar school, the secondary school and the Hauptschule am Fredenberg and to exchange ideas together.
The aim is to initiate projects in Fredenberg for pupils, where they can get to know each other better and have fun breaking down inhibitions and barriers with educational support.
The table football and table tennis tournament took place for the first time in this form. The planned soccer tournament will take place for the third time in the summer.
