Since November 1, 2024, the qualified music teacher has been passing on his artistic craft to children, young people and adults by teaching the trombone, tuba and euphonium. Anyone who would like to hear and experience the trombone is invited to the "Trombone Colors Quartett" concert on Sunday, 26 January at 5 pm in the Fürstensaal at Salder Castle.
For over 20 years, the municipal music school was unable to offer brass instrument lessons due to a lack of teachers. Sabine Petter, Head of the Salzgitter Music School, is therefore all the more pleased that Volkmar Dietrich has been filling this gap since November and is teaching in the building as an experienced brass player, long-standing specialist teacher and qualified pedagogue. "This is an enrichment for the music school and everyone who wants to get to know brass instruments and play them themselves," says the director.
The contact with Volkmar Dietrich came about in Salzgitter on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the music school during a performance at the opening of the Festwoche 2024 with the "Hannover Brass" ensemble, of which he has been a permanent member as a trombonist since 2004. He has also played trombone in the Philharmonic Volkswagen Orchestra since 2000.
The 54-year-old has many years of experience not only as a teacher of low brass instruments, but also as a musical director and conductor of various orchestras at music schools and clubs (symphonic wind orchestra, wind orchestra in a music club, fire department band, youth symphony orchestra and symphony orchestra).
The qualified orchestral musician and music teacher would like to inspire music enthusiasts of all ages to play a brass instrument and bring them together. He wants to be a mediator between pedagogy, craftsmanship and good music. "Brass instruments are special instruments because playing them requires physical effort. You can feel how you make music with every fiber of your body," says Volkmar Dietrich.
For his inaugural concert on January 26 in Salzgitter, Volkmar Dietrich was able to win over his quartet colleagues from the "Trombone Colors Quartet". They all study at the Hanover University of Music. Together, the four trombonists will present a wide range of these instruments. The program will include works from the Renaissance and Baroque to jazz and pop, such as music from Handel's Water Music or Glenn Miller's Chatanooga Choo Choo. "Anyone who wants to hear and experience what is possible with the trombone is cordially invited to come and have a listen," says Volkmar Dietrich. The new music school teacher will be happy to answer questions from the audience after the concert.
Information: The "Trombone Colors Quartet" can be heard on Sunday, January 26 from 5 pm in the Fürstensaal Schloss Salder (Museumsstraße 34). Admission is free. The Friends of the Music School are happy to receive donations. A champagne reception is planned after the one-hour concert, during which Volkmar Dietrich will be happy to answer questions.
