Participants receive up-to-date information, practical tips and networking opportunities on eight Tuesdays, after which they can volunteer to provide initial help with questions about forms and applications or help with language barriers.
It is important to note that this is not legal advice - this is prohibited by law for volunteers - but rather the provision of orientation knowledge and support in preparing for appointments with authorities or social insurance providers.
Whether questions about citizens' benefits, social assistance or pension/health insurance: the series of events makes it possible to refresh structural knowledge and to be able to help people who are overwhelmed and need a little support. Participants are therefore also expected to volunteer at one of Salzgitter's many advice centers afterwards in order to provide other people with concrete help independently and free of charge.
