Salzgitter

Council meeting on February 25

The Salzgittersee City Council was informed about measures for the further development of the Salzgittersee at its meeting on February 25.

In addition to the many seating areas already located directly on the lakeside path and on the lawns behind it, both in sunny and shady locations, the municipal management company will carry out the following measures in the course of 2025:

  • Creation of new seating areas under existing trees
  • Shading of existing seating areas by planting trees
  • Creation of new benches with tree planting to provide shade
  • Dismantling / removal of old benches

In order to ensure accessibility, the new seats will only be installed directly on the lakeside path. Once the new benches have been installed, some of the older benches away from the main path will be removed, as they are located on grassy areas that are more difficult to access.

A resolution was passed to strengthen nursing care and against the transfer of non-nursing activities to nursing staff in hospitals. The new earmarked refinancing of personnel costs incurred in nursing care, which is regulated by federal law, should relieve the burden on nursing staff in hospitals. Since 2025, only nursing staff and qualified nursing assistants have been refinanced via the nursing budget, which hospitals have to settle with the health insurance funds as actual costs. However, it should be noted that in the course of this positive new regulation, various hospital operators have begun to transfer non-specialist service activities, such as cleaning beds, to nursing staff in order to charge 100% of these non-specialist activities via the separate nursing budget.

The following items were also on the committee's agenda: Closure of Aldi Nord central warehouse, municipal vehicle fleet

At the end of the meeting, there were motions and questions from the parliamentary groups. The current and detailed agenda can be viewed in the Council information system.
