Salzgitter

Mayor Frank Klingebiel: StadtStrand Salzgitter-Bad a great success - repetition planned for next year!

StadtStrand 2025 in Salzgitter-Bad

At the end of the special "StadtStrand" event, Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel, the Managing Director of Wirtschafts- und Innovationsförderung Salzgitter GmbH (WIS), Jan Bohling, and the organizer FAIRWORX draw an enthusiastic conclusion about the new event format.

Klingebiel: "The hoped-for visitor numbers have been exceeded by far and the feedback from visitors has been as positive as you could wish for."

Bohling: "In addition to the great atmosphere in the lovingly designed area, the daily events and, above all, the many supervised activities for children and young people proved to be a crowd-puller."

Katja Karl from FAIRWORX summarizes: "We come from the region and were familiar with the city of Salzgitter, but over the three weeks at Klesmerplatz in Salzgitter-Bad, we became Salzgitter fans. So many friendly people and committed clubs supported the event. But the greatest thing is the countless children, many of whom visited us almost every day."

The fact that the StadtStrand could be implemented with the help of funding for the revitalization of city centres and become such a success is thanks to the efforts of Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel at federal and state level:

"My intensive efforts as Vice President of the Lower Saxony Association of Cities and Towns and member of the Presidium of the German Association of Cities and Towns to impose and secure funding for the 'Sustainable City Centers and Town Centres' program have borne fruit. Around € 145,000 was spent on the city beach, 90% of which was covered by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB) and 10% by the city of SaLzgitter. The stalls around the beach area, which were made available to local restaurateurs free of charge, were also purchased by the city and WIS as part of the funding program. The ideas of the Lower Saxony Association of Cities and Towns and the German Association of Cities and Towns for upgrading the inner cities were ultimately well received by the BMWSB, so that the summer sand and sea feeling was able to find its way into Salzgitter-Bad. our common goal with the StadtStrand was to contribute to the revitalization of the inner city of Salzgitter-Bad, to strengthen our retail trade and to give the residents a vacation feeling on their own doorstep. We have achieved that. And that is precisely why I will also plan the corresponding budget for 2026 so that we can hold this outstanding event again next year. After the StadtStrand is before the StadtStrand!"
