2026 Local and Mayoral Elections

Starting on August 10, 2026, election notices for the Kommunalwahl will be mailed to eligible voters in the city of Salzgitter.

Citizens who have not received a notice of election by August 23, 2026, but believe they are eligible to vote, must review the voter registry and, if necessary, submit a request to correct the voter registry if they wish to ensure that they can exercise their right to vote.

The voter registry for the Kommunalwahl in the city of Salzgitter will be available for review by all eligible voters from August 24 through August 28 during the following hours at the absentee ballot offices:

Salzgitter-Lebenstedt City Hall:

Monday: 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.,
Tuesday: 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.,
Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.,
Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Salzgitter-Bad Branch

Monday: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Tuesday: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.,
Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Anyone who believes the voter registry is incorrect or incomplete may, during the public review period—no later than 12:30 p.m. on August 28—file an objection with the City of Salzgitter at City Hall in SZ-Lebenstedt (Election Office, Conference Room 66), . The objection may be filed in writing or by making a statement for the record.
