Volunteer DUO senior companions support older adults in their daily lives and spend time with them.
After completing a training program, participants are placed and supported through the Senior and Care Support Center. In addition to regular meetings, graduates also have the opportunity to participate in free continuing education courses. Anyone interested in senior companionship can register—regardless of their age or prior experience in this field.
Free Training
The free training program to become a senior companion includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and a 20-hour practical component. Those interested can also take advantage of a free first-aid course.
The training program is conducted in collaboration with the Evangelical Family Education Center, the Catholic Family Education Center, and the Volkshochschule of the City of Salzgitter.
Information Session for Those Interested
Those interested can learn more about the training content and schedule at two information sessions.
They will take place on Tuesday, October 6, at 5:00 p.m. at the Salzgitter-Bad Senior Center at Braunschweiger Straße 137a, and on Thursday, October 8, at 5:00 p.m. at the Lebenstedt Senior Center, Am Strumpfwinkel 24.
