The fire department’s integrated control center triggered the warning and all-clear siren signals on time at 11:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., respectively, activating a total of 57 sirens throughout the city. In addition, two mobile sirens were successfully tested at locations in Salzgitter Gebhardshagen and Salzgitter Bad. Using the mobile sirens, which are also equipped with public address systems, the public was informed about the warning day between the warning and all-clear signals. The Salzgitter Fire Department was supported in this effort by units from the German Red Cross (DRK) and the German Life Saving Association (DLRG) in Salzgitter. These units also participate in the city’s civil protection efforts.
As in the previous year, Salzgitter Fire Department personnel were deployed throughout the city to monitor individual siren locations. Currently, there are no known instances of existing sirens failing to activate.
First Deputy Mayor and Head of Fire Safety Eric Neiseke expressed great satisfaction with the results of the 6th Warning Day. He explicitly emphasized the great importance of the various warning systems and views the continuous testing and improvement of the city’s warning systems as a key component of civil protection.
Alerts via cell broadcast and warning apps are transmitted through federal communication channels and are not the responsibility of the City of Salzgitter.
