The Youth Safety Kits are a prevention project that the Youth and Democracy Promotion Team first launched in 2025 to ensure the safety of young people. The kit contains various items, such as a knockout-drop test, band-aids, and glucose tablets, which can be important for enjoying parties without worry (see below).
“We reached out to the beverage vendors at the Old Town Festival and are pleased with the positive response to this prevention project,” says Alexandra Leszczynski, who launched this project together with her colleague Inga Wolter from the Youth and Democracy Education Team. During the Old Town Festival, from Friday, June 26, through Sunday, June 28, “youth protection kits” will be available at eight beverage stands and handed out as needed. Posters at the stands will draw attention to this service. “Young girls in particular were pleased with the ‘K.O. Drops’ test last year,” says Inga Wolter. After all, the busier the festival, the denser the crowd—and the easier it is for people to lose focus at the stands. Anyone who feels unsure can use the test to quickly determine whether a substance has been mixed into their drink.
