To mark “International Day of the Girl,” the Salzgitter Girls’ Working Group is inviting girls from all schools to participate in an exhibition.

Under the theme “Girls’ Worlds—Diversity Instead of Rules,” creative workshops have already taken place at the children’s and youth centers (KJT) Graffiti, Hallendorf, Hamberg, and D7, as well as at the youth culture workshop (JKW) Forellenhof. The results will be on display in an exhibition opening on October 5. In addition, schools where girls would like to participate and get creative are invited to join.

Schools can register by September 25.

Information:

Schools with creative girls can participate in the exhibition with their work.

Responses can be submitted by September 25, 2026, to the Salzgitter Girls’ Working Group (maedchenarbeitskreisstadt.salzgitterde) or directly with the Municipal Child and Youth Support Office within the City of Salzgitter’s Department of Children, Youth, and Family, specifically the Youth and Democracy Promotion Team (jugendunddemokratiebildungstadt.salzgitterde).

The exhibition will open on Monday, October 5, at 4:00 p.m., at the town hall in Lebenstedt and will then be on display at various locations through the end of November.

Information on International Day of the Girl:

October 11 is International Day of the Girl – Together for Girls’ Rights

More than 12 years ago, the United Nations established a day of action for girls’ rights at the initiative of Plan International. Since then, the International Day of the Girl has been observed on October 11.

In 2025, Salzgitter participated with the exhibition “Making Girls Visible in the Neighborhood.” This year, the exhibition’s theme is “Girls’ Worlds—Diversity Instead of Prescribed Norms.”
