New Team – New Energy at the Hallendorf Children’s and Youth Center (KJT)

A New Team and New Activities: With Hannah Pottrick and Lenja Borgmann, the educational team at the Hallendorf Children’s and Youth Center (KJT) has been revamped. Together, they aim to build on what has worked well in the past and further develop the program with new ideas and activities for children and teens from Hallendorf and the surrounding area. Just stop by!

Lenja Borgmann has been working for the City of Salzgitter since October of last year. Hannah Pottrick completed her professional certification year at the Graffiti Children’s and Youth Center and successfully finished the program. She has been part of the team at the Hallendorf Children’s and Youth Center since April. “Together, we want to further develop the center, launch new projects, and offer children and teens a diverse range of activities tailored to their needs,” says Hannah Pottrick.

Twice a week—usually on Tuesdays and Fridays—the program includes cooking and baking activities. Under the guidance of the educational staff, the children work together to prepare various dishes and baked goods. In the process, they learn how to handle food, develop their everyday life skills, and discover how much fun cooking and baking together can be.

On Wednesdays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., it’s time for sports: The group uses the gym at Hallendorf Elementary School for a variety of physical activities, group games, and free play. The children’s wishes and ideas are also gladly taken into account and incorporated into the program’s design.

Children and teens are warmly invited to stop by, join in, and get to know the center.

On Thursdays, the focus is on creativity. Through crocheting, crafting with iron-on beads, and many other creative activities, the children can contribute their own ideas and let their imaginations run wild.

A special feature is the monthly Girls’ Day for girls ages six and up. During this time, they can enjoy the center all to themselves, choose their own projects, and carry them out independently with support from the educational staff. Creative arts and crafts activities, as well as group cooking and baking sessions, are especially popular.

A special exhibition is planned for International Girls’ Day on October 11. Exactly what the girls will present remains a little secret until then.

“It’s important to us to continue developing the KJT Hallendorf as a place for connection and community, where children and teens can contribute their ideas and feel at home,” says Lenja Borgmann. “We’re looking forward to many new encounters and shared activities at the center.”
