The Volkshochschule’s (VHS) new course catalog is available and can be booked on the VHS’s new website. The theme is “Shaping Tomorrow Together.”

With 493 courses (144 of which are offered online), the Volkshochschule is offering a diverse program for the 2026/2027 winter semester across its seven areas: “Politics, Society, and the Environment,” “Culture and the Arts,” “Health,” “Foreign Languages,” “Work and Career,” “Computer Science,” and “junge Volkshochschule.”

The program is available on the Volkshochschule’s website. The new design features the tried-and-true offerings, which are now open for registration. Anyone with questions about the courses or the registration process can contact the Volkshochschule team (phone: 05341/839-3604 or email: vhsstadt.salzgitterde).

Good to know: The new program was distributed and mailed from August 4 through 8 to everyone who has taken a course in the past four semesters.

The program has been available at various distribution points since August 12.

The new semester begins on September 1.

Braunschweig-based cabaret artist and singer-songwriter Vanessa Maurischat will kick off the new semester at the Volkshochschule

A cabaret-style semester kickoff with Vanessa Maurischat on August 27 at 7 p.m. at the Kulturscheune!

But the festival will kick off as early as Thursday, August 27, at 7 p.m. at the Kulturscheune in Lebenstedt with a cabaret performance by Vanessa Maurischat. All fans of the “Comedy Ladie(s)” are invited to this free event, which will include a collection at the end.

Under the title “Now, let’s just suppose…,” she’ll present cabaret and songs.

About the show: What if we just pretended for a moment that we still had everything under control? While everyone else is explaining how to live better, think better, sleep better, and become a better person, Vanessa Maurischat first tries to figure out exactly when “completely normal” suddenly turned into an optimization project.

With music, a sharp eye, and a keen desire to digress, she gathers stories, thoughts, and absurdities from a time when suddenly everyone has an opinion on everything, but hardly anyone has a user manual anymore. Amid big issues, small catastrophes, and the strange rules of modern coexistence, an evening unfolds that happily goes with the flow—and precisely because of that, comes pretty close to real life. Or rather: right through the middle of it.

Admission is free! Donations are welcome!
