Salzgitter

12- and 13-year-olds elect assessors

12- and 13-year-olds from Salzgitter have received a voting authorization from the City of Salzgitter's Children, Youth and Family Department to digitally elect the three members of the new Youth Parliament.

12- and 13-year-olds elect members of the youth parliament.

The youth parliament of the city of Salzgitter consists of 25 youth parliamentarians and three assessors. These are 12 and 13-year-olds who support and accompany the work of the youth parliamentarians.

Six applications were received for this role by the application deadline. For this reason, there will be an election this year for these three seats.

The management of the Youth Parliament has decided that there will be a digital postal vote for the upcoming election. This means that this year's election is not only the first election for the Youth Parliament since 2014, but it is also the first digital election for the Youth Parliament.

Important: The election notifications were sent out on Tuesday, March 31. Eligible voters can cast their votes digitally until the end of the election on Friday, April 10, at 6 p.m., as soon as they have received their election notification.

What does digital postal voting mean?

There is a link and a unique personal password in the election notification. Voters can use this data to cast their vote and elect an assessor.

On Friday, April 10, the election portal will automatically close for voting at 6 pm. From then on, eligible voters and the election management will be able to view the election results online using their access data.

The election results will be published later, together with the names of the 25 youth parliamentarians and the date of the constituent meeting of the 7th Youth Parliament.

Further information:

The Youth Parliament has 25 places for youth parliamentarians. These people must already be 14 years old on election day, but not yet 21 years old. The management of the Youth Parliament received 25 valid and complete applications for the 25 places by the end of the application period.

In accordance with the election regulations for the Youth Parliament, these applicants will be accepted as members of the Youth Parliament at the constituent meeting of the 7th Youth Parliament without prior election.

In addition, there are three places in the youth parliament for assessors. These are people who are 12 or 13 years old on election day. Six applications were received by the end of the application period.

For this reason, there will be an election this year for the three seats for assessors (see above).
