VHS Study Tour: Highlights of Egypt

The Salzgitter Volkshochschule has completed its preparations for its next study tour. The tour, which runs from Thursday, March 4, through Monday, March 15, 2027, will take participants to the highlights of Egypt and is now open for booking.

The land along the Nile captivates visitors with its unique architectural wonders, centuries-old treasures, and a history that remains palpable to this day.

The journey takes you to the capital, Cairo; to the Pyramids of Giza; to Alexandria on the Mediterranean coast; and on a cruise down the Nile from Luxor to Aswan, offering views of the unique landscapes along Africa’s great river.

Historic Cairo is a blend of significant monuments, lively alleys, and the oriental market atmosphere of Khan el-Khalili. The itinerary sets aside plenty of time for a visit to the new Grand Egyptian Museum with its collections of ancient Egyptian treasures. The journey continues from Cairo to Luxor on a night train with sleeper cars. The Nile cruise beginning there includes, in addition to many sightseeing stops, the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut.

The price of the trip to Egypt is 2,700 euros per person in a double room (single room supplement: 680 euros). It includes flights from Hanover to Cairo, a domestic flight, transfers within the country, half-board, and a German-speaking tour guide.
