From April to August 2026, the City of Salzgitter's senior citizens' office is offering various informative presentations to inform people who are particularly affected by the heat on hot summer days and anyone else who is interested.

The lectures will be held at various locations in Salzgitter under the title "Precautions on hot days for older and particularly vulnerable people". The topics revolve around personal precautionary measures that everyone can take during periods of heat. They range from tips on how to behave in the event of heat-related complaints to how to protect your own house or apartment from the summer heat.

The speakers are experts from the health sector, from the Lower Saxony Consumer Center, a provider of first aid courses, the BKK Salzgitter and the Federal Ministry for Radiation Protection.

The first lecture in April will be given by Athanassia Moudiou from the Salzgitter City Health Department under the title "What are the special features of heat and dementia?". It will take place on Wednesday, April 22, at 3 p.m. in the Südstadtzentrum, at Windmühlenbergstraße 9-11, in Salzgitter-Bad. Energy consultant Stefanie Steinwender will then give a talk on Tuesday, April 28, at 3 p.m. at the Lebenstedt senior citizens' meeting place, Am Strumpfwinkel 24, on the topic of "How can I protect my house/apartment from the summer heat?".

Admission to all lecture events is free.

Registration is possible by calling 05341 / 839-3257 or sending an e-mail to seniorenbuerostadt.salzgitterde.
