Bullying refers to intentional, targeted, and repeated attacks on people. A defining characteristic of bullying is that the attacks occur regularly and over an extended period of time. Bullying can take many forms: verbal abuse, insults, threats, or physical violence.
Cyberbullying is an equally pressing issue that requires specialized knowledge due to its impact on those affected, because these insults and defamatory remarks take place in a vast virtual space, are visible to strangers, and can be accessed and shared at any time. This involves the use of apps such as TikTok, WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. Children and adolescents use these apps without their parents having any insight into what is happening there, or they only find out late in the game that their own children have become victims of cyberbullying.
Two speakers from the Youth and Democracy Promotion Team will answer questions such as how bullying and cyberbullying arise, how those affected can protect themselves, and who can help them.
Questions are also welcome.
