At its meeting on February 24, 2026, the Administrative Committee of the City of Salzgitter approved the above-mentioned urban land-use plans as a draft for public participation in accordance with Section 3 (2) of the German Building Code (BauGB).

The aim of the planning is to designate a special area or the presentation of special construction areas for large-scale retail.

The draft of the Sal 26 development plan, the draft of the 114th amendment N.N. of the land use plan, the drafts of the explanatory statements with environmental report and the environmental information already available can be viewed from 05.03.2026 to 08.04.2026 .

The draft of the development plan Leb 166, the draft of the explanatory statement with environmental report and the environmental information already available as well as the covered sections of the development plans Leb 106 A for SZ-Lebenstedt "Am Saldergraben - Am Schölkegraben" and Leb 106 B for SZ-Lebenstedt "Gerstenweg bis Bohnenweg" can be viewed from 19.02. to 23.03.2026.

On Monday, March 2, the city of Salzgitter is inviting residents to a citizens' meeting in Groß Mahner. The focus will be on the possible subsequent use of the sports field.

From 6 p.m. to around 8 p.m., the planning options to date will be presented in the village community center, Am Sattelhof 8 in Groß Mahner.

In addition, an interactive workshop is planned in which citizens can share their wishes and ideas.

In Groß Mahner, the subsequent use of the sports field is being discussed, as it is currently little used and there is currently no sports club that manages the land.

The inner-local area lies fallow and could be used for new housing plots or other plans.

Against this background, the city of Salzgitter has developed the idea of developing a new building area with up to twelve single-family and terraced house plots and is proposing the creation of development plan GrM 6 for Salzgitter-Groß Mahner "Former sports field".

The site is located to the west of the Nordring. It is bordered to the south by the street Am Sportplatz and to the west and north by residential buildings.

The development plan needs to be drawn up so that the approximately 7,700 square meter area can be developed and structured in terms of traffic.

The aim of the planning is to establish a village residential area with internal development.

The public participation in the 117th amendment N. N. (after new announcement) to the land use plan of the City of Salzgitter published in Amtsblatt No. 29 dated 10.12.2025 was incorrect with regard to the numbering of the land use plan amendment. On Thursday, 01.02.2024, the city of Salzgitter invited citizens to an information event at the Ristaurante Galahof in Salzgitter-Salder. There, the Urban Planning, Environment, Building Regulations and Monument Protection Department presented the plans for the Sal 25 "Southern Extension" development area. Under the moderation of city planning officer Michael Tacke, around 50 Salzgitter residents then discussed the urban planning design, the draft development plan and the framework conditions and effects of the plans presented.
