Salzgitter

Integrated Urban Development Concept (ISEK) of the City of Salzgitter Update 2012

The overarching objectives, measures and concepts for the development of the city as a whole are formulated in urban development planning. It forms the long-term, municipal perspective and basis for future-oriented, political and planning decisions.

Urban development follows the guiding principle of sustainable urban development geared towards the common good. The expected changes in the general conditions, e.g. the population structure, the economic situation and the environmental situation, are also important.
To this end, data and forecasts are evaluated, e.g. on population development and the housing market >Housing market monitoring.

Salzgitter was one of 16 pilot cities in the ExWoSt research field "Urban Redevelopment West" (experimental housing and urban development) that developed an integrated urban development and action concept (ISEK) and implemented the first model projects based on this. The Integrated Urban Development and Action Concept was adopted by the Salzgitter City Council on June 22, 2005 as a guideline for urban development.
