The settlement permit is an unlimited residence permit. Only the validity of the card is linked to the passport. You can continue to use your settlement permit with your old passport, the settlement permit (as a sticker in the passport or as a card) and the new passport. You can also use it to leave and re-enter the country without any problems. The only important thing is that you have all the documents mentioned with you.

As the transfer is therefore not an urgent matter, please do not contact us to arrange an appointment for the transfer until after normal operations have resumed.

To extend the validity of your residence permit, we currently issue certificates confirming the continued validity of your residence permit for a period of four months. Please notify us of the expiry of your residence permit with your details using the contact form. You will then receive a certificate by post. Once normal operations have resumed, you will then need to make an appointment to receive your new residence permit.

For children under the age of 6 whose residence permit is currently expiring, you can send a current photo of your child with the height and eye color and the data of your child as well as the note that the residence permit expires by post. The residence permit will then be extended and a certificate will be sent to you by post.
