Tuberculosis is a contagious disease. It is an infectious disease that often begins with nonspecific symptoms (cough, fatigue, mild fever, etc.) and primarily affects the lungs, though it can also affect other organs.

To prevent the disease from spreading throughout the body and to stop it from infecting others, early detection and prompt initiation of drug treatment are crucial.

Treatment must be long-term and consistently followed; otherwise, it can lead to a recurrence of the disease, the ineffectiveness of antibiotics (known as the development of resistance), and further cases of the disease through transmission.

Responsibilities of the Tuberculosis Counseling Service :

• Identification and examination of individuals who have been in contact with tuberculosis patients
• Support and monitoring of outpatient antituberculosis therapy
• If necessary, administering treatment and ensuring its completion
• Further follow-up after completion of treatment
