Volkshochschule

Description

Description

Volkshochschulen(VHS) are public adult education institutions at municipal level.

Volkshochschulen act on a public mandate and are not subject to ideological or commercial interests. As an independent part of the education system, they cooperate with a wide variety of providers in order to combine the content of their courses with the aims of adult education and in this sense make a significant contribution to the social, intellectual and cultural development of citizens.

The 62 Volkshochschulen in Lower Saxony offer a comprehensive range of general, political, cultural and vocational education in the form of lectures, courses, seminars, workshops, study groups, discussion groups, etc. The VHS educational program covers the basic areas of vocational qualification, preparation for school-leaving qualifications, history, politics, psychology, philosophy, art, regional and local studies, natural sciences, technology, artistic and craft design, languages, home economics and health education.

Information or links to the program of your regional VHS can usually be found on the website of your city or district.
