Education provided in a day-and-night residential facility or in another form of supervised housing is intended to support the development of children and adolescents.

This is a type of educational assistance service. This service may also be appropriate for young adults who have reached the age of majority (Section 41 of Book VIII of the Social Code).

The type of care is determined by the age and developmental stage of the child, adolescent, or young adult. In the various types of residential settings, professionals provide care for your child through educational and, if necessary, therapeutic programs.

Residential care or other forms of supervised housing constitute a form of educational assistance. Depending on the situation, the assistance is intended to:

• attempt to facilitate a return to the family,
• prepare the child for placement in another family,
• provide a long-term living arrangement and prepare the individual for independent living.
