Extend your license as a driving instructor to include categories A, CE and DE

If you would like to expand your driving instructor license to include categories A, CE, and DE, you must apply to the appropriate authority.

Description

If you hold a license to teach driving, you can expand it to include classes A, CE, and DE.

  • With a BE license, you can work as a driving instructor for passenger cars. It authorizes you to train students for the following license classes:
    • B
    • BE
    • L
  • With a Class A license, you can work as a motorcycle driving instructor. It authorizes you to train students for the following classes:
    • AM
    • A1
    • A2
    • A
  • With a Class CE license, you can work as a truck driving instructor. It authorizes you to train students for the following classes:
    • C1
    • C1E
    • C
    • CE
    • T
  • With a DE license, you can work as a bus driving instructor. It authorizes you to train students for the following license classes:
    • D1
    • D1E
    • D
    • DE

To upgrade your license, you must have held a Class B driver’s license for at least 3 years and, depending on the driving instructor license you wish to obtain, a Class A2, CE, or D driver’s license for at least 2 years.
