Every dog owner is required to register their dog.

The registration requirement is specified in detail in the respective municipal ordinance. This ordinance generally requires registration

• if the dog is older than three or four months,
• when acquiring a new dog or moving to a new residence with a dog,
• or when caring for or boarding a dog for a period of more than two or three months.

In addition, a separate entry in the dog registry is required, which is not carried out by the competent authority.
