Non-company-based vocational training is an alternative to company-based vocational training if you haven’t yet found an apprenticeship and don’t have a clear idea of what your future holds.
Non-company-based vocational training may also be an option for you if your company-based or non-company-based vocational training was terminated prematurely and it is currently not possible for you to begin company-based vocational training, even with additional support. In that case, you can continue your training with a training provider. The time you have already spent in training will be taken into account—if possible.
Your age is generally not a factor.
Your off-site training takes place in a recognized apprenticeship occupation. Liberal professions and nursing professions cannot be trained off-site.
Your training takes place at a training provider. The Job Center covers the costs. You receive a training stipend and are covered by social insurance.
Under certain conditions, you may also be eligible for a vocational training allowance.
For the theoretical part of the vocational training, you attend a vocational school. Depending on the model, the practical part
- generally take place in the training provider’s workshops, including on-the-job training phases, or
- generally at a training company with which the training provider cooperates.
During your training with your program provider, you can, among other things,
- tutoring in specific subjects or in learning German,
- preparation for class tests and exams,
- support with everyday problems,
- mediation discussions with your trainers, teachers, and parents
- and, after transitioning to on-the-job vocational training, continued support from your previous provider as needed to ensure the successful completion of your training
.
An experienced team of trainers, teachers, and social educators will support you throughout the entire program. Together with you, they will develop a personalized support plan based on the training framework.
During off-site vocational training, your transition to on-the-job training will be supported.
If certain conditions apply, you may also complete your training on a part-time basis.
Even as a young person with disabilities, you can participate in off-site vocational training if it meets your individual support needs and enables you to participate in working life through the training.
