A protected cultural monument may only be destroyed, demolished, dismantled, or removed

• destroyed, demolished, dismantled, or removed,
• altered, or otherwise modified in any way,
• have its appearance impaired in a manner that is not merely temporary (e.g., by advertising structures),
• or removed from its location.

The permit requirement also applies to

• the non-temporary removal of accessories from an immovable protected cultural monument that form a unit with it worthy of preservation, as well as
• the construction, alteration, and removal of structures in the vicinity of an immovable, protected cultural monument that may affect the monument’s appearance.

Permission may be granted subject to conditions; for example, it may be required that the work be supervised by an expert.
