There are support services available for children and teens.
These support programs are designed to help children and adolescents.
These support programs are called “Education and Participation Services.”
Children and adolescents should have more learning opportunities.
And they should have more recreational opportunities.

This will help them learn better and develop more fully.
The Education and Participation Package is a support program.
The Education and Participation Package costs money.

You can get that money:

• When you go on field trips.
• When you go on a trip with your school or a daycare center.
• The trip lasts more than one day.

Is the trip only one day long?
Then you won’t receive any money.

You have to do certain things.
Then you’ll get the money, too.

Personal school supplies
You’ll receive money for school supplies.
For example:

• a backpack
• for sports gear
• for writing supplies
• for math supplies

School transportation
School transportation costs money.
But some children get to ride for free.
To qualify, the children have to do certain things.
For example, they have to go to the nearest school.
Do other people not pay for the ride?
Then the children have to pay for the ride themselves.

Learning Support
Do you need help with your studies?
Then you can get that help.
You’ll need to submit an application.
The teacher must also approve it.
Then you’ll receive the support.

Additional costs for lunch
You receive money for your child’s meals.
Your child must eat at school or at daycare.
Or your child must eat at the daycare center.

Participation in social and cultural life
You receive a monthly allowance for:

• - Membership fees
• - Art classes
• - Recreational activities

You can also save the money for recreational activities.
Then you’ll receive more money for a special recreational activity.

The Education and Participation Package was introduced to give children and youth from low-income families the opportunity to take advantage of educational and recreational programs, thereby opening up better educational and developmental opportunities for them.

The education and participation package includes the following benefits:

1. Field trips and multi-day school trips
The actual costs of one-day field trips and multi-day trips organized by schools and child care centers are covered in full—with the exception of pocket money—provided all eligibility requirements are met.

2. Personal school supplies
Students receive a lump sum of 195 euros for school supplies (e.g., school bags, gym clothes, and writing, math, and art supplies) in the calendar year 2025:

• 130 euros for the first school semester
• 65 euros for the second school semester

Since 2021, the allowance for personal school supplies has been adjusted annually by the same percentage as the standard allowance.

3. School Transportation
The costs of student transportation to the nearest school may be covered free of charge under certain conditions. The prerequisite is that transportation to the nearest school is necessary and the costs are not covered by another party.

4. Learning Support
Students receive learning support provided that it supplements school programs, is appropriate, and is additionally necessary to achieve key learning objectives. A confirmation from the teacher is required as proof.

5. Additional Expenses for Lunch
For each child eligible for benefits, the costs of communal lunch service at school, at the daycare center, or in home-based childcare are covered.

6. Participation in Social and Cultural Life
Subsidies are available for activities that promote leisure pursuits for children and youth within the community—such as club memberships, swimming lessons, summer camps, music lessons, and much more. Currently, 15 euros per person per month is available for this purpose, which can be divided among various activities or saved up for a larger undertaking.
