The idea
Children romp around the rooms, mothers chat in the garden, fathers play with their offspring - grandparents look after their grandchildren.
The SOS Mothers' Center is open to everyone. The idea is very simple: to bring all generations back together under one roof, to promote responsibility for and with one another. Care for the elderly and childcare work side by side here. Young and old live together under one roof, just like in a traditional extended family. Children experience old people in their everyday environment and the elderly enjoy contact with the younger ones. They are no longer alone and are happy that they can do something - also for those in need of care in the multi-generation house.
Built in 1999, the new multi-generational residential building on Braunschweiger Strasse in Salzgitter-Bad is not a new rental apartment building in the conventional sense, but living in this house is integrated into the concept of the adjacent mothers' center as "living in an ensemble". This combination is particularly interesting for young families, single parents with children or children and senior citizens, who can take advantage of the services of the Mütterzentrum, from childcare in the daycare center, lunch and homework help to senior care with all services especially for older people.
