Once again this year, the “Adventstreff” will take place on Saturday, December 12, and Sunday, December 13, in front of and inside the Städtisches Museum Schloss Salder in Salzgitter-Salder, inviting visitors to get into the Christmas spirit. The forest of lights in front of the castle, which glows in a special light after dark, and the scent of mulled wine and roasted almonds make a visit here a special experience. As always, admission is free. The city of Salzgitter supports the “Quiet Hour” initiative, which will take place during the Adventstreff on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Fairy tales for young and old will once again be read aloud in the castle’s vaulted cellar. Santa Claus will also pay a visit on both days at 3:30 p.m. and hand out gifts to all the young guests at the Adventstreff. Adults can look forward to the “Rock ’n’ Roll Christmas Concert” on Saturday.
Arts and crafts in the sheepfold
Once again this year, the "Schafstall" on the grounds of the Salder Castle Municipal Museum will be home to artisans offering a wide range of gifts on both days, from fragrant soaps and artistically designed paper art to glass tree decorations and homemade liqueur. Lovingly crafted and stylish gifts can be found here in the run-up to Christmas. The market is open on Saturday from 1 pm to 7 pm and on Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm.
Culinary delights for every taste
There will be many stands offering culinary delights. Specialty sausages from the Harz Mountains, crépes and waffles, hearty dishes such as potato soup, bratwurst, currywurst, pizza and much more. Of course, there will also be mulled wine, hot Aperol, hot mulled beer, just to mention a few warming drinks, as well as delicious non-alcoholic beverages.
Clubs present themselves
The Adventstreff also offers Salder-based clubs the opportunity to set up a booth, so visitors can once again support these clubs this year by purchasing a bratwurst, a hearty potato soup, or a hot beverage.
The Adventstreff schedule:
Saturday, December 12, from 1:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Sunday, December 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The event is organized by the City of Salzgitter’s Cultural Services Department in cooperation with “Flugbörse Reisebüro Baberowski & von Zitzewitz GbR.”
The event will take place at the Salder Castle Municipal Museum in Salzgitter-Salder, at Museumstraße 34.
