Decision to participate in the federal funding program "Sustainable inner cities and centers"
In its meeting on 29.09.2021, the Salzgitter City Council decided to participate in the federal funding program "Sustainable inner cities and centers". As part of this funding program, the projects "Creation of inner city concepts for Salzgitter-Bad and -Lebenstedt" and "Development of an umbrella brand for both inner cities" were implemented. The contract for the implementation of these projects was awarded to CIMA Beratung + Management GmbH following a call for tenders and in accordance with the resolution passed by the Administrative Committee on 27.06.2023.
Creation of city center concepts for Salzgitter-Bad and -Lebenstedt
In a diverse development and participation process, work was carried out from late summer 2023 to spring 2025 on the development of the two city center concepts.
The aim of the concepts is to identify viable guiding principles and concrete measures that strengthen the local retail sector, promote diverse and sustainable use of the city centers and make both centers future-proof.
A central component of the process was the broad participation of citizens and local stakeholders. Many perspectives were collected, discussed and integrated into the concepts in events, city walks, online surveys and local workshops.
