The City of Salzgitter’s Medienzentrum is the central hub for media education, media production, and media consulting for schools, educational institutions, and the local community. Our mission: to help children, teens, and adults understand media, evaluate it critically, and become creative creators themselves.

One focus of our work is our collaboration with schools. We advise on the development of school media concepts, offer further training for teachers on topics such as artificial intelligence and teaching media skills and lend out equipment - from audio recorders and robotics to video cameras. The NLQ's Media Education Advice Center, which is based at the Medienzentrum, also supports schools with questions about designing lessons in the digital space.

In addition to media education at school, we offer extracurricular activities for children and young people: In vacation workshops and projects, children and young people gain their first experience of building and programming robots or create their own short films and digital productions - creative media work beyond the classroom.

As part of the Cultural Services department, the Medienzentrum is also responsible for municipal media productions, supports specialist services with communication projects and broadcasts council meetings live.
