Current:
Still waters in a changing climate
The "blue infrastructure" of a city contributes significantly to the well-being of people and animals.
Climate change makes the already demanding management of ponds and smaller lakes even more challenging, especially in dry and hot seasons, which can cause new extremes in water bodies.
A concept is to be drawn up on how best to protect and strengthen the still waters in Salzgitter from damage.
Concept development period: third quarter of 2025 to third quarter of 2026
Creation of a heavy rain hazard map for the area of the city of Salzgitter
Heavy rainfall can cause damage to buildings by bringing more precipitation in a short period of time than existing buildings and infrastructure such as roads and sewers can cope with.
The aim of a commissioned project is to describe where the critical areas in Salzgitter are and what better protection options are available for buildings. The results will then be published.
