On Tuesday, December 3, the lake lighting at Salzgittersee was ceremoniously switched on. Numerous invited guests and members of the public were present.

"Now the lights are coming on at Salzgittersee" said Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel, who pressed the button to switch on the 165 lights together with representatives of the Salzgittersee City Council and the local councils.

At its meeting on August 29, 2018, the Salzgitter City Council approved the "Construction of path lighting along Salzgittersee" project. The necessary work has been carried out over the past three months. The inner ring of paths around Salzgittersee is now illuminated over a length of 5,400 meters with LED lights on aluminium masts.

On site, Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel emphasized: "The lighting increases the attractiveness of Salzgittersee. We are all happy when we can go for a walk or jog here even in the darker months of the year."

Torsten Fleige-Lütgering, Head of Civil Engineering and Transport at the City of Salzgitter, added: "The first switching of the lighting is taking place today. Over the next two days, we will be programming the dimming function of the lights. The lighting will therefore be switched on for a 48-hour test and programming run."
