Mayor Frank Klingebiel emphasized at the opening: "Osterlinde is growing - 39 children live here. The playground was built because it is needed. Children's dreams of playing are coming true here. My thanks go to everyone involved who contributed to the success of this construction project." Ute Skalik, mayor of the village of Nordwest, added in her words of welcome: "Happy children are the most important thing in this day and age. I wish all the children and their parents lots of fun on the new playground."

The Osterlin children had also come up with something very special for the opening. Together with Osterlinde resident Cornelia Klages, they rehearsed a song. "There's a lot going on in Osterlinde from now on... There's a paradise on this beautiful meadow from now on," they sang to the guests as a musical contribution.

The playground has a lot to offer on around 900 square meters: A toddler seesaw, a double horizontal bar, a play tower with a slide, a double swing and a zip wire invite children to play. There is also a seating area for older visitors. The construction of the playground cost around 80,000 euros. Prior to construction, a participation campaign was held with the children of Osterlinde, in which a list of priorities was drawn up. In a second campaign, two variants were then voted on, in which the playground equipment was included according to the priority list.
