WEVG opted for the "Plug'n'Charge" pedelec charging system.
"The e-bike charging station is a good addition to the extensive range of offers at Salzgittersee. Here you can do (cycling) sports to recharge your own batteries. There is hardly any other place better than the lake for a station to charge your bike batteries," explains Torsten Fleige-Lütgering, Head of Civil Engineering and Transport at the city of Salzgitter.
Rainer Krause, Commercial Managing Director of WEVG, adds: "We chose the location at Salzgittersee together with the city of Salzgitter because e-bike riders from Salzgitter and the region often take a break at Salzgittersee. There are many different ways to relax here and enjoy refreshments, for example, and most bike batteries are ready to ride again after 30 to 60 minutes."
"Four 230 Volt Schuko sockets are attached to the column with sturdy metal brackets on both sides," says Matthias Giffhorn, Head of Marketing and Sales at WEVG. "In addition, blue steel boxes with hinged lids, which can be easily opened via smartphone in the charging station's own WiFi, are available for storing the batteries - without a key or entering a PIN."
During the charging process, users lock their charger and battery securely in the box. They can chain their bike to the metal bar with their own bike lock to prevent theft.
In the meantime, users of the e-bike charging station can enjoy the wide range of leisure activities on offer around Salzgittersee!
"We hope to make another small contribution to increasing the attractiveness of Salzgittersee," agree Torsten Fleige-Lütgering, Rainer Krause and Matthias Giffhorn.
A brief description of how to charge your bike:
- Connect your smartphone to the "Plug'n'Charge" wifi.
- Open your browser and go to the website www.plugncharge.de
- Let yourself be guided through the menu on your smartphone.
- Please close the box again once charging is complete.
In the website menu, you can select the socket and the storage box (they are numbered), then the box opens with a "click", where you can safely deposit your charger. At the same time, the socket is activated.
