Salzgitter

Relief for catering businesses

Restaurants are allowed to reopen from Monday, May 11. Salzgitter does not charge any special usage fees for additional outdoor areas.

Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel

Restaurants are allowed to reopen from Monday - that's the good news. However, strict infection protection and distancing rules must be observed not only indoors, but also outdoors. "It is understandable that restaurant operators want to extend the area for outdoor catering in order to be able to serve more guests in compliance with the distancing rules," says Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel, "In order to cushion the hard financial losses of the last week, especially in the catering sector, the city of Salzgitter will decide on applications from restaurateurs to extend their outdoor areas due to compliance with the distancing rules on the basis of Section 6 of the special usage fee statutes and will not charge a special usage fee for these additional areas."

However, the application is not waived, the special use must be applied for at the Citizen Service and Order Department.
