Salzgitter

On Youtube: Salzgitter-Beinum from above

Another film in the "Salzgitter from above" series has been published on the City of Salzgitter's YouTube channel. This time you can see Beinum.

The word-historical interpretation of the place name of Beinum indicates that the village originated in the 5th/6th century. It coincides with the beginning of salt production in the Salzgau, i.e. in the region between Vepstedt, Kniestedt (both now Salzgitter-Bad) and Gitter.

The first documentary mention comes from a list of goods of the Goslar cathedral monastery. The directory was compiled by the cathedral scholastic Thietmar between 1174 and 1195.

The place name later changed from Behem (1174) to Benem (1209, in a document from Pope Innocent III), Beinem (1225), Beinum (1278), Beynum (1356) and Benum (1400). Since 1548, the current place name Beinum has been used consistently in the documents.

2,670 users have now subscribed to the YouTube channel so that they can be informed about new films immediately. However, the contributions can also be viewed without subscribing. The number of individual film views ranges from hundreds to thousands and tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands. A total of well over 1.8 million film views have already been recorded.
