Election presentation on the Internet:
The results from the individual polling districts will also appear on the salzgitter.de website as soon as they are received at the polling station. The first results can be expected from around 6.30 pm.
As in previous elections, many Internet users will then be able to obtain very detailed information about the mayoral, council and local council elections on the municipal websites.
Publication will be frozen for the last ten electoral boards until the municipal electoral officer presents the provisional official final result.
Election presentation in the Kulturscheune:
At the same time, the municipal election presentation will take place in the Kulturscheune in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt from 6.00 pm. The presentation of the incoming results from the polling stations will be moderated by city councillor Dr. Dirk Härdrich. Klaus Händel on saxophone and Martin Krüger-Düsenberg on piano will provide musical accompaniment for the evening. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase in the outdoor area in front of the Kulturscheune.
Due to the pandemic, access to the event is subject to the 3-G rule. Fully vaccinated and recovered persons are asked to carry the appropriate proof. Guests who are neither vaccinated nor recovered can take a free rapid test on site, which will be carried out by the DRK. Guests' contact details will also be collected on site using the Luca app or a list. Masks are compulsory in the Kulturscheune, but not outside.
We ask for your understanding that only a limited number of guests are permitted on site due to the pandemic. If this number is reached, no access to the event can be granted as long as no one leaves.
Information for election Sunday:
Don't forget: the polling stations are open continuously from 8 am to 6 pm. In principle, all residents over the age of 16 and citizens of the European Union registered in Salzgitter are entitled to vote. Voters must bring their polling card and/or their identity card or passport with them to the election and must provide proof of identity if requested by the electoral board.
Each voter can vote three times for the council, three times for the respective local council and once for the Lord Mayor.
On election Sunday, in justified exceptional cases, the right to vote by post can be exercised until 3 pm. Those entitled to vote can obtain further information by calling 05341 / 839-3665.
The so-called "Hare-Niemeyer" proportional method is used to calculate the distribution of seats (council and local council). There is no 5 percent hurdle as in Bundestag or Landtagswahl elections. Which of the candidates is elected is determined by their position on the list and their personal result.
On September 12, the supreme sovereign, the voter, will decide who will determine the majority of Salzgitter's political future over the next five years on the council, in the seven local councils and as mayor. From 6 p.m., the ballot papers for the mayoral election will be counted first, followed by the council election and, in a third step, the elections to the local councils. The provisional official final result will not be available before 10.30 pm.
