Salzgitter sleuths

The new cell phone app entitled "Salzgitter Spürnasen" takes young and old on exciting puzzle tours through Salzgitter.

Just in time for the start of the Easter vacations, a new games app is being launched for Salzgitter! The main target groups are children, young people and families. The app appeals to tourists as well as Salzgitter residents.

It was developed by Wirtschafts- und Innovationsförderung Salzgitter GmbH (WIS) in cooperation with the City of Salzgitter's Department of Culture. The technical implementation was carried out by the start-up company UniGlow Entertainment.

The app can be downloaded free of charge and ad-free from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store from April 2.

The app entitled "Salzgitter Spürnasen" invites young and old explorers on adventure tours to the most beautiful and interesting places in Salzgitter. Embedded in exciting stories and accompanied by amusing animal characters, the aim is for the sleuths to solve tricky puzzles, find the right path and master fun mini-games. Interaction with the environment is at the heart of all challenges; the digital game world is closely linked to the real environment.

So far, two extensive tours are available to play, some of which involve covering quite a distance. The playing time is over an hour in each case. More tours will follow as soon as possible.

Tour 1 leads around the southern part of Salzgittersee. It starts and ends at the Stadtbad in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt and can also be done on bicycles. The sleuths have to rescue the shipwrecked mouse pirate Captain Saltbeard and help him to make his ship seaworthy again.

Tour 2 is suitable for rainy days, as it takes place entirely indoors in the Salder Castle municipal museum (admission free!). Here, a hacker attack has caused chaos in the digital collection database. Important information about the exhibition and its secrets has been lost. Museum director Kaja Klug therefore sends explorers young and old on a journey through history, from the cellar to the attic, on which the missing information must be rediscovered.

Users of the app can plan their puzzle tours completely independently - apart from the download, no additional materials or instructions are required. However, Tour 2 is only available during the museum's opening hours.

Dr. Björn Gläser from Wirtschafts- und Innovationsförderung Salzgitter GmbH (WIS) says: "With the app, we want to offer families an uncomplicated and free leisure experience and, last but not least, draw attention to the many great places in Salzgitter. That's why more tours should follow if possible."

Arne Homann, Director of the Salder Castle Municipal Museum, is delighted: "The app is a great addition to our offer and very attractive, especially in bad weather! It makes it possible for children and families to explore a large part of our exhibition on their own in a fun and modern way!"
