Later on in the agenda, the committee was informed about the two "small climate-friendly forums" that are currently being built in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt and Salzgitter-Bad. As part of this project, damaged trees are being felled in both city centers, new climate-resistant trees are being planted, solar benches are being installed, drinking fountains are being installed and fogging technology is also being installed to improve the microclimate.
During the construction work in Salzgitter-Bad in the area of the traffic circle at Schützenplatz and adjacent to it in Vorsalzer Straße and in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt on Monumentplatz, there are expected to be restrictions on the footpaths and adjacent streets until mid-June 2023.
The city parliament has approved the waiver of special usage fees for restaurants, as the late effects of the coronavirus pandemic are still having a drastic impact on their business operations. Although the restrictions imposed in this regard have now been lifted, the catering industry is still under pressure, partly due to inflation, and in many places has not yet fully recovered from the loss of sales caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The meeting ended with motions and questions from the political groups. The current and detailed agenda can be viewed in the citizen information system at salzgitter.de.
