The good news is that the Thermalsolbad will not only be renovated, but will also become more attractive.

Klingebiel presents the core statements of his proposed resolution, which takes up the unanimous vote of the Supervisory Board of Bäder, Sport und Freizeit Salzgitter (BSF) and which the Council will decide on at its meeting on April 30: "It was important to me to keep my word and tackle the Thermalsolbad project after the successful opening of the Stadtbad in Lebenstedt. How do we position the now 50-year-old Thermalsolbad in the future, what do we want, what do we need and what can we afford? A completely new building would be desirable, with an investment sum of around 45 million euros, but this is not financially feasible. Nor will it be possible to make the pool fit for the future with the originally agreed investment costs of 8 million euros. The current proposal "refurbishment of existing facilities and making them more attractive" is now somewhere in between with a financial volume of 24 million euros. The Thermalsolbad with its diverse range of facilities appeals to many users, this basic orientation should be maintained and, in addition, it is important to make it even more attractive, but also to eliminate known weak points such as the previous access to the bistro. We have also managed to secure a good two million euros from the federal program "Renovation of municipal facilities in the areas of sport, youth and culture", with which we plan to renovate the ceiling and convert the lock to the outdoor pool to make it barrier-free." "We are making the pool fit for the next generation," summarizes Supervisory Board Chairman Clemens Löcke, "We were elected to represent citizens' interests and we have kept these in mind in all our discussions and assessments!" His deputy Doris Holletzek explains what this means: "We are creating a toddler area, expanding the sunbathing lawn, keeping the focus on club and school swimming, but visitors to the fitness centre and bistro will also benefit from the modernization." A key advantage of the preferred option is that all measures can be carried out in stages. "There will certainly be restrictions on pool operations, but there will be no complete closure of the pool," says Annette Schudrowitz, Managing Director of BSF, "TSB staff could also be deployed throughout."
