"With the famous high wire troupe "Geschwister Weisheit" from our twin city Gotha, the largest and most powerful ensemble of its kind in Europe is coming to Salzgitter for the fourth time after various guest performances (1992, 1998, 2012) on the occasion of the "Seesause" - the festival at Salzgittersee in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt."
Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel: "My long-time colleague and friend Lord Mayor Knut Kreuch from our twin city of Gotha introduced me to the partners of the traditional family business Peter Mario Weisheit and Andre Weisheit at a celebratory event in Gotha in January 2025 and recommended them to me. My wife and I were thrilled by the vivid descriptions of the Weisheit brothers alone. On the occasion of the celebrations for the 1,250th anniversary of our twin town Gotha as part of the 19th Thuringia Day in Gotha, I was able to marvel at the breathtaking acrobatic attractions in person with my council delegation at the beginning of May 2025. We were all fascinated by the extraordinary feats of the 10 artists on three motorcycles, who rode on three steel cables stretched side by side 40 meters above the heads of the spectators. For this reason, and due to the good town-twinning relations, I personally invited the famous high-wire ensemble "Geschwister Weisheit" from our Thuringian twin town to enrich our lake festival on Salzgittersee with another extraordinary attraction on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of their family business. The high-wire ensemble will be presenting four different high-wire artistry shows over the three days of the "Seesause". All seven shows by the high wire stars can be admired free of charge at two locations on Salzgittersee. I am delighted that we have been able to engage the "Geschwister Weisheit" from our twin town of Gotha for our special lake festival from 22 to 24 August 2025. Let yourself be "enchanted"!"
The program of the high wire troupe at the lake break:
August 22 - Journey into the past of high wire acrobatics and breathtaking high mast show
As a highlight, the historical high wire spectacle "Anno dazumal" will take place on Friday, August 22, at 4 pm on the sunbathing lawn above the water ski facility. A reminiscence of the 125-year-old family tradition of the troupe. On a historically designed rope apparatus, the artists take visitors back to the flair of street and high wire artistry at the turn of the century.
At 10 p.m. that evening, spectators at Reppner's Bay will experience the high mast show at a height of 62 meters in the spotlight. Natalia and Max Rudolf Weisheit will take it in turns to climb to the top of the mast and take the audience's breath away with daring acrobatics. Whether standing on one leg or on their hands, with the living flag or the one-armed support balance, they will thrill their audience. Incidentally, Natalia is the only woman in the world to work at this height on a pole swaying up to 5 meters. The highlight of the performance and trademark of the "Weisheit siblings" for over 60 years is the trumpet solo played on the pole.
August 23 - Award-winning high-wire show and high-mast motorcycle show
On Saturday, August 23, the artists will present their Monte Carlo award-winning high-wire show at 3.30 pm and, after the award ceremony for the Salzig Band Contest organized by the city's Department of Culture, the big high-mast motorcycle night show at around 10.30 pm. With action and speed, ten artists on three motorcycles, high above the festival grounds, show that you can do more than just ride on steel cables. The "Weisheit siblings" offer top acrobatic performances, on and under the machines, up to a height of 40 meters. Tooth power acrobatics are just as much a part of the show as handstands, support balances and the unique motorcycle pyramid with four artists on one motorcycle. In addition to motorcross and a handstand ride on the handlebars of a KTM RC 390, there is also a big overtaking race with three motorcycles on three steel cables stretched side by side.
August 24 - Motorcycle show "High above the rows of tables" and high-wire show with bicycles, unicycles and pyramids
On Sunday, August 24, visitors can experience the motorcycle show "High above the rows of tables" at 12:30 pm at Reppnersche Bucht for the Salzgitter Community Foundation's city breakfast.
The event continues there at 3.30 pm with a high-wire show with bicycles, unicycles and pyramids at a height of 12 meters. They captivate their audience with impressive pyramids, such as the bicycle balancing act pyramid or the triple bicycle pyramid. The artists' children are not left behind either. The youngest, Charly (12), Lenny (11) and Ruby (7), now in their sixth generation, show what they have already learned.
And the crowning glory of the evening and the "Seesause" is the high-mast motorcycle show "Über allen Köpfen". At 6.30 p.m., the "Weisheit siblings" will once again perform their artistic program, which they already presented at the same venue in the morning.
Awards and tours all over the world
The high wire troupe has received many awards in its long tradition for its outstanding artistry. These include the Gold Medal of Honor for Artistry, the Thuringian Order of Merit and the Special Prize of the International Jury at the 35th Circus Festival in Monte Carlo.
Rudi Weisheit (3rd generation, director of the Weisheit siblings high wire troupe from 1973 to 2010), the father, grandfather and great-grandfather of the currently active 4th, 5th and 6th generations, was made an honorary citizen of the city of Gotha in 2023 by unanimous decision of the city council. One of the greatest honors for the life's work of an artist who made the name of his hometown known in Germany and the world and represented it with dignity.
Tours have already taken the Thuringian family of artists through Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Spain and Romania, as well as to Thailand, Hong Kong and Oman.
